Audit of Local Waste Management Plan of Boljevac Municipality started
The expert team of Aurora green Ltd. has begun an audit of the Local waste management plan of Boljevac Municipality for period 2011-2021, and a production of the Municipal illegal landfills (dumps) cadastre.
These activities are carried out in accordance with the Law on Amendments to the Law on Waste Management (“Official Gazette of RS”, No.14 / 16).
The purpose of the audit, among other things, is the alignment of future measures and objectives of this important municipal sectoral document with the innovations brought by the respective legislative changes, then to-be National strategy on waste management, as well as the up-coming Regional Waste Management Plan for the city of Zajecar and municipalities of Boljevac, Bor, Kladovo, Majdanapek, Negotin and Knjazevac.
The review process has been opened by forming a work group, which consists of representatives of various institutions and expert services of the Municipality and of Aurora green consultants, and continued with collecting material for an assessment of the newly created state of waste management: from the Public Utility Company “Usluga” – information on the treatment of waste, from local communities – information on the wild landfills in the Municipality, and from local economic entities – data on the quantities of waste generated in 2016.
This was followed by a visit to the municipal landfill “Obla” that was just partly rehabilitated a few years ago, and designated as a future transfer station after the establishment of a regional waste management system with the central sanitary landfill “Halovo 2” in the city of Zajecar.
Continuing, a work meeting with representatives of the Municipality and local communities, and a representative of the local public company responsible for waste management, was held. Aurora green team presented future liabilities of local government in the field of waste management, methodology and objectives of the audit itself, as well as the methodology and objectives of a making and method of usage of the Municipal illegal landfills (dumps) cadastre, which is planned to be basis for monitoring, development and implementation of plans for remediation of identified wild dumps. In addition, the work group discussed current problems and shortcomings in the field of waste management in the Municipality.
